Mauricio Pochettino drops much-needed positive fitness update on Thiago Silva for Liverpool final

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva could be in contention to play against Liverpool in Carabao Cup final

Chelsea have been handed some welcoming news ahead of their classic Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday. Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Thiago Silva will be available for the final at Wembley.

Both Premier League giants will be facing each other, and one side will take home the first silverware of the season. However, both sides won’t be at their full capacity as Liverpool and Chelsea are dealing with a multitude of injuries.

The Reds are said to be without a total of 11 players and seem to be adapting to constant injuries, while the Blues are born into it. Though this isn’t a competition, it will be interesting to see as both sides will be without many of their key players.

However, Chelsea will welcome Silva, who has started partial training, and Pochettino has revealed the club will scan if he is available to participate in the final, (h/t Football. London), he further said:

“Yes, he has a chance. Tomorrow, we will see if he is ready to be involved in the game.”

Should Silva start ahead of Levi Colwill?

Silva has just returned to training, and we don’t know if he will be at his absolute best to face Liverpool. The Argentine manager should opt to go with Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill, who were enthralling against Manchester City and stood their ground to limit their threat during the attack.

Pochettino may be able to use the Brazilian off the bench, but it will be a big decision for him because it’s an important game and we will need a more experienced squad to limit Liverpool’s threat in any circumstances.

Pochettino should employ Disasi and Colwill because they were not wounded against City, and Chelsea has been able to play swift football at the back without Silva. We will play against a team who are at the top of the Premier League and despite their injuries, they have remained impressive.
