Mauricio Pochettino does not appear to be under immediate risk at Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has endured a difficult time in his first season in-charge of Chelsea Football Club. The Argentine manager has been privy to inconsistent football all season which has left the Blues eleventh in the Premier League table.

Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino had an opportunity at silverware to salvage their season last weekend. The Londoners lost to Liverpool in the League Cup finals at the Wembley Stadium. It had to be a Virgil van Dijk header very deep into the extra time to clinch the 1-0 win.

At Wembley on Sunday, Chelsea set an unwanted record. This was Chelsea’s sixth successive domestic cup final defeat.

Maurico Pochettino looked like he ignored Chelsea owner Todd Boehly after collecting his runners-up medal. This led Chelsea fans and media at large to think if all is not right between the head coach and owner at Stamford Bridge. Todd Boehly has spent over a billion pounds in transfers since he took over the ownership of Chelsea in May 2022.

Mauricio Pochettino has endured a difficult season in-charge of Chelsea.

There were reports that Mauricio Pochettino would be sacked, although the American billionaire will continue to support the Argentine in-charge of Chelsea. He will hold off any managerial decision till off-season to avoid another setback to already failing season as according to journalist Dean Jones speaking to GiveMeSport.

“I don’t think that Pochettino will get sacked before the end of the season. It would have to take him losing to Leeds, and a big decision being made. Their season would basically be over if they do lose to Leeds, so there is not that much to lose by sacking him now, but all messages out of the club are that it will not be a decision made imminently. They will wait until the summer.

“But, if it is even a tiny bit in their mind that a decision will be made in the summer, it’s impossible for them not to be having a look around to see which managers might be a good replacement.”

Mauricio Pochettino was awarded a two-year contract at the beginning of the season at Stamford Bridge, with an option for a 12-month extension. However, the Argentine has struggled to achieve the same level of success he experienced while managing Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea owner is backing Mauricio Pochettino, despite sharing an uncomfortable moment after Chelsea fall to Liverpool.

Jones also acknowledged that Chelsea would be compelled to make a decision if the team were to be eliminated from the FA Cup tonight by Leeds United. Such an outcome would remove any chances of winning silverware at the Bridge for the current campaign.
