Jurgen Klopp plays down Liverpool being favourites against Chelsea in Carabao Cup final

Jurgen Klopp rules out Liverpool being favourites going into the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on February 25th. The Reds, who defeated the Blues 4-1 in a Premier League match, are certainly seen as the frontrunners to lift the cup.

Klopp’s side are at the summit of the Premier League, and their recent 4-1 win against Luton Town is another indication of how exceptional they have been despite recurring injury problems.

The Reds are mired with injuries after Diogo Jota picked up a knee injury while Mohamed Salah aggravated his hamstring ailment, and Salah is now doubtful for the final.

Against Luton, the hosts were without a total of 11 first-team players, including Curtis Jones, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak.

With plenty of injuries mounting, Klopp’s side continues to deliver a dominant display and the win over Luton set another example to never write Liverpool off, but the German head coach feels they aren’t the favourites for Carabao Cup final, (h/t Evening Standard), and said:

“Will we be big favourites? Definitely not. Since we played them [Chelsea], they have improved a lot, and it will be tricky; this was exceptional tonight.”

Never write Liverpool off

Liverpool are one of the teams who have instilled that winning mentality, and their attitude is the main reason they are always hard to play. Despite being blighted by so many injuries, they continue to display their finest performances, and they are favourites going into the final.
