Chelsea and Arsenal ready to fight for Aberdeen B youngster Lewis Carroll
At just 15, Aberdeen B team player Lewis Carroll is attracting interest from Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal. The young player has yet to make his senior debut, but his performance has already been monitored by many English top-flight clubs.
According to the Athletic, (h/t Metro), Chelsea are said to be captivated by his performance and have been tracking him at Aberdeen, but they aren’t the only club eager to sign him, as Arsenal are set to be an obstacle in their pursuit of the teenager.
The centre-back is also said to have similar qualities to Manchester City defender John Stones. At a young age, Carroll is shown great composure and calmness at the back. His defensive qualities have impressed Premier League clubs, and they are hoping to sign him.
Carroll is yet to sign a professional contract, which could give the interested team an advantage in signing him, but Aberdeen will receive some fee if he joins another club. It could be too soon for the young player to play in such a difficult league.
At Chelsea where he will be under as much expectation to contend with other young players for a position and the Blues should let the defender grow in the Scottish league. He won’t face much competition at Aberdeen, which will facilitate his easy development.
Being compared to Stones, who is renowned for maintaining his composure under pressure, is a testament to the centre-back’s tremendous attributes. Stones is adaptable and has the ability to play in the middle. He can move fluidly through the pitch, maintain composure in confined areas, and dodge the press.
