Ancelotti opens up possibility of Real Madrid signing Chelsea defensive target in bargain deal

Chelsea target Miguel Gutierrez might return to Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is open to signing Chelsea defensive target Miguel Gutierrez from Girona, per Fabrizio Romano’s tweet. The prominent Italian journo stated Ancelotti’s words who has been keeping a close eye on the youngster. Ancelotti says:

“Miguel Gutierrez has improved a lot at Girona. He’s playing very well — so we will decide in summer what to do.”

Guitierrez was promoted to the first team by then-Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane in 2019. However, the increasing competition within the senior team forced the youngster to remain with Real Madrid Castilla.

He joined Girona in August 2022 and soon became a crucial figure at the club. Guitierrez has been instrumental in his current club’s surprising performance in La Liga this season.

Girona is second on the table having lost just one game (against Real Madrid) from 23 games. Real Madrid added a clause when selling the youngster that would help them buy the player back for €8 million.

Big snub for Chelsea

Fighting against Real Madrid for a player is unrealistic for Chelsea at the moment. The West London outfits trail the Spanish giants in almost every department currently. Mauricio Pochettino wanted Miguel Gutierrez’s signature this January.

However, the 22-year-old dreams of returning to his former home. Apart from Chelsea, Gutierrez has attracted top clubs like Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Tottenham. However, none of these clubs can compete against the mighty Real Madrid — that is the dream destination of arguably every footballer.

Gutierrez has more reasons to choose Los Blancos over any other club. Carlo Ancelotti’s comments about the young defender should force Pochettino to look the other way and find new defensive targets.
