Former Chelsea player William Gallas makes top-four predictions and says the Blues can secure a European spot if they finish sixth in the Premier League table by the end of the season.
The West Londoners are currently in ninth place for the first time since last year following a 1-0 win over Fulham last week and are three points adrift of sixth-place West Ham United.
With how the Blues have fared so far, there are hopes that the club can also achieve a top-four spot, which will see the club qualify for the Champions League for the following campaign.
However, Gallas feels the West Londoners have the quality to finish sixth this season, (h/t Mirror), as he told Gambling Zone:
“Man City will win it. Then Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham will make up the top four. Aston Villa will finish fifth, and Chelsea will finish sixth. To qualify for the Europa League, Chelsea have to finish sixth, and I think they’ll qualify for it. It will be between United and Chelsea for sixth place.”
Although our performance has improved, our inability to score goals and our tendency to miss easy opportunities have held back us from winning games. Statistics speak for themselves when it comes to our dangerousness in the opposing box, but we have also missed the most chances.
Once we find a reliable goal scorer who guarantees us goals, it’s game over for other top Premier League sides. Because, who knows, by the next season, we can challenge for titles. Had we boasted a mix of experienced and young players, we’d be doing much better compared to now.
Hopefully, we aim to finish fourth this season, but it will be a tough competition. Once we find that finishing touch in front of the net, a European spot might not be far off.
