Teenage Cobham sensation pens first Chelsea professional deal

Chelsea academy starlet Frankie Runham inks his first professional contract with the club

According to Football.London, Chelsea academy prospect Frankie Runham has inked his inaugural professional contract with the club after a decade of commitment. The 17-year-old’s consistent excellence during his development has earned him this professional deal.

Runham has showcased his talent while representing the U18 side in both the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League. With aspirations to step up to the senior team, his unwavering dedication is poised to be duly recognized for the commendable performances he has delivered.

At the age of just 17, he is already impressing on the youth side. He is a versatile forward who can play in FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League football. He has started the last seven matches, scoring a goal and making two assists under Hassan Sulaiman.

Runham will undoubtedly follow Michael Golding and Alfie Gilchrist as the next player to make his Chelsea senior team debut if he keeps up his remarkable showing. The two former Chelsea academy players have been honoured by Mauricio Pochettino for their performances with the senior debuts and now Gilchrist is certainly next in the line.

The Chelsea sensation is still a teenager and has plenty of time to make his debut for the senior side. His performance demonstrates that he merits the chance to feature for the Pochettino side.

Since the Argentine manager is already overseeing many other young players and we are in the second part of the season, it may be challenging for the teenager to make his mark for the senior team.

However, since he signed a professional contract with the Blues, the Argentine boss would presumably keep an eye on his progress and call him up to the senior team when the time is opportune.
