Pochettino provides Nicolas Jackson availability update for Liverpool clash

Mauricio Pochettino promise Chelsea will look to bring Nicolas Jackson before Liverpool clash

Mauricio Pochettino has affirmed that the club will do everything to get Nicolas Jackson on the pitch before the Liverpool clash after Senegal were eliminated from the African Cup of Nations 5-4 on penalties by Ivory Coast.

The forward aims to return before the match appears doubtful, which will kick off on Wednesday night. Jackson has seven goals in the Premier League and looks to be getting back to his peak quality of effectiveness.

Pochettino has been frustrated with Chelsea’s lack of potency in front of the net, as Armando Broja hasn’t taken the club’s goalscoring responsibility well and hasn’t found the back of the net in Jackson’s absence.

The Argentine manager has discussed Jackson’s availability for the Liverpool clash, and he hopes he will be able to bring him to the game. (h/t Evening Standard), He told reporters:

“We are seeing [if it is possible]. Maybe it will happen. If it means we have a one percent more chance to win the game, for sure, we will try it.”

“We are waiting. All I can say is that maybe he will be there. The other day, Ghana lost and were out, and Inaki Williams arrived a few hours before and played in the second half to beat Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.”

Jackson might still be unhappy at his country’s loss in the AFCON, even though they were seen as favourites to defend the trophy. So even though it seems impossible, we can hope that he gets there before the game.

We cannot guarantee that if Jackson will be available for the game as Pochettino’s claim gives some confidence that he might come off the bench to play against the Reds. Until then Armando Broja will have to be clinical if the Blues are to win this crucial match.

Jackson was undoubtedly missed since he provides greater ability and menace in the box than Broja, who was unable to fill the void left by the Senegalese player and had trouble in front of the net.
