Moises Caicedo family has been provided security by Chelsea after unrest in Ecuador
Chelsea star Moises Caicedo is facing serious family problems in Ecuador, as his country has been torn between gun violence and violence. South America has been rocked with bombs, gang violence, and even an armed incursion, which has been broadcast live on television.
The former Brighton & Hove midfielder, who cost the Blues around £100 million up front with a further £15 million due in add-ons, was doubtful for Chelsea’s second-leg Carabao Cup match.
But the most expensive player in Premier League history did make an appearance and was in the starting lineup to face Middlesbrough. Thanks to the club’s decision to provide security to his family to protect their star player’s relatives during the turmoil.
However, the 21-year-old was replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka in the 72nd minute, though before the game, (h/t Sun), Mauricio Pochettino gave an insight into what really happened and said:
“It is true that a few weeks ago he was really worried. The situation is not easy. In South America, it is not only Ecuador. Normally, the club cares not just for him but for everyone.”
“If you have problems, the club is there to try to help us in different ways. If it has happened, it is a good thing for the club to help the player because we need him in his best condition to compete. Every day we have been talking about how the situation is in Ecuador. At the moment, it is good news, in his case, for his family.”
Ecuador is going through a really disastrous period, and politics is putting a lot of people at risk. Every time there is a political outcry, it is always the people who suffer the consequences and lose their lives.

Caicedo played the match but was taken off in the 72nd minute. Considering that his family is from Ecuador, he must be anxious regarding them since he was unable to return home. It’s difficult to keep your mind on the game when your family is in harm. Now that his family has security from the Blues Board, hopefully, everything will return to normal.
