Chelsa and Manchester set to battle for singing of Martin Braithwaite

Chelsea and Manchester United are plotting a move for former Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite, who is enjoying a productive spell with second-tier Espanyol.

According to the Sun, (h/t ESPN), Chelsea are considering making a move for the Danish centre-forward. The 32-year-old has 11 goals in the Spanish Second Division, and his performance has drawn interest from top Premier League clubs.

The centre-forward’s contract has a £6 million release clause that expires in July, the Blues can acquire him for a significantly lower sum. The Danish forward can go for free if he helps the Catalan giants advance to La Liga; if Espanyol stays in the second division of the Spanish league, they will have to sell him for £500,000.

However, there is some issue in his contract that could delay his signings, but Chelsea and United are open to waiting until the summer to make a move for the striker.

Both Chelsea and United have difficulty finding ways to score goals and are prepared to add a successful striker to their rosters. However, Braithwaite doesn’t seem to be the player who can consistently deliver goals for us.

And given that we will have to wait until summer, it sounds funny because it’s very unlikely that Chelsea will consider signing the 32-year-old given that they are more keen on acquiring Victor Osimhen.

As a striker, Braithwaite is volatile and will find it difficult to score goals on a regular basis for us because there is a significant difference between the Premier League and the Spanish Second Division.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Victor Osimhen.

It’s clear from his prior goal totals that he is not an ideal striker who will find a solution to our severe goal-scoring issues. Despite spending two seasons at Barcelona, Braithwaite only managed to score ten goals, which is reason enough to consider other options.

Next summer, we should assess our alternatives and see who we can recruit. However, before we do so, we must look into a striker’s credentials to make sure he is a reliable goal scorer for us.
