Chelsea and Manchester City monitoring Alphonso Davies’ contract saga at Bayern Munich

According to the Mirror, Chelsea and Manchester City have been alerted regarding Alphonso Davies’ contract situation at Bayern Munich and are keeping an eye on his movement. The highly-rated left-back deal is set to expire in 2025, and the player has yet to hold talks with Bayern Munich to renew his contract at the club.

The situation seems to be reaching a breaking point for Alphonso, who seems to have lost his place to Raphael Guerreiro under Thomas Tuchel, which has affected the Canadian performance.

Regardless of his future at Bayern, Alphonso’s agent Nedal Huoseh has affirmed that the fullback is fully committed to staying at the German club.

It is also understood that the Bavarians are set to hold talks with the player to resolve his contract issue and hand him a new deal, which will fend off interested clubs.

However, salary has been a main issue, as Bayern are ready to give the left-back £8.5 million per season. The 23-year-old wants to pocket £11 million.

Bayern still have some time, and if they fail to reach an amicable decision with the fullback, they will either be forced to sell the left-back by the end of the season as they cannot afford to lose him for free next campaign.

Davies is a premier fullback, and Chelsea will be quick to take advantage of his addition, as he gives the squad a lot of offensive and defensive energy. He joined Bayern at the age of 19, and since then, he has blossomed into one of the team’s outstanding fullbacks. In addition, he is adaptable and capable of playing from the left wing, as he has frequently demonstrated for Canada.

He isn’t prone to injuries either, so this will be a brilliant addition for us. However, we should keep an eye on how Bayern settles his employment dispute, and if they are unable to reach a settlement, we should make a serious effort to challenge Manchester City for his services.
