Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson shuns his doubters by citing de Bruyne and Salah experiences

Chelsea defeated Sheffield United to climb up to the 10th spot on the league table. Nicolas Jackson was on the scoresheet after converting a cutback from Cole Palmer. After the game, the Villarreal star spoke about his face-off with the ‘critics’. According to the Evening Standard, the 22-year-old has revealed how the critics do not faze him.

He also emphasised the influence of his coach on his performance by saying,

“He has been with a lot of young players, so he motivates me every day and tells me to go and he has seen people worse than me [in the past] and they are now big players. De Bruyne was here and Salah was here. They struggled here and are now big players. They didn’t listen to people who don’t know football, he keeps telling me that”.

Jackson believes Chelsea can still salvage the situation. The Senegal international trusts the team’s prowess ahead of a challenging game versus Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash. The Chelsea striker is confident about his growth at the club and has his inspirations on point.

Mohamed Salah and KDB faced heavy criticism during their stints at Stamford Bridge before moving out eventually. They are now among the elites within the Premier League.

The Premier League is a different ball game altogether. The intensity of the game is something that many cannot adapt right away. Arriving from Villareal, it hasn’t been any different for Jackson. He had a decent run in form at La Liga the previous season after netting 12 and assisting four from 26 games.

Head coach Pochettino has relied heavily on the striker this season owing to the injury and unavailability of players this season. The pressure resting upon Jackson’s shoulders was massive, especially in his debut PL season.

Despite that, he managed to find the net 7 times and assist once from 16 games. The club is going through a tough period but Nicolas Jackson is doing his part quite evidently. With the coach’s backing and the right inspiration, Jackson can add more fire to the squad. Christopher Nkunku getting back from injury is another booster to the club’s morale.
