Jobe Bellingham attracts interest from Chelsea and Arsenal

Jude Bellingham is creating magic with Real Madrid this season. The English star has racked up 17 goals and five assists from 20 games across all competitions. While the Real Madrid midfielder is scaling new heights, there’s another Bellingham slowly grabbing attention.

Jude’s younger brother Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland was closely watched by a handful of European heavyweights per Football.london (h/t Ekrem KONUR). The scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea were present during Sunderland’s game against Bristol City on Saturday.

Jobe Bellingham featured for just 27 minutes but couldn’t be significant for his side. The 18-year-old midfielder was able to register just a shot on target during the game. This was the first time Jobe failed to start games under Mike Dodds.

Jobe Bellingham’s presence within the Sunderland squad is widely felt due to his playing style. Deployed in the midfield, the young player has an immense flair for attacking just as his older brother.

The presence of scouts makes it evident that Jobe’s calibre belongs to the Premier League and not the Championship. The London club’s keeping a watch over him makes the saga much more interesting.

Mauricio Pochettino’s game plan for Jobe Bellingham

Chelsea has spent an immense amount of money on recruiting players. If that wasn’t enough, Pochettino has recently handed in a request for Joao Palhinha and Dusan Vlahovic. Learning about the presence of scouts during Jobe Bellingham’s game is nothing less than a surprise for Chelsea fans. The question would be — where does he fit?

Chelsea’s roster is filled with midfielders and having another one seems questionable. However, it is quite the opposite if viewed from Mauricio Pochettino’s perspective. Most of his players aren’t living up to the price tag, so there is no loss in signing someone like Jobe Bellingham.

He should be a cheap buy and the performance certainly weighs over the price tag. Pochettino can perhaps use Jobe as a strong backup to Mykhailo Mudryk. The Ukrainian international arrived at Stamford Bridge for a staggering fee of €70 million.

His performance on the pitch is far from what was expected. The former Shakhtar player has just two goals and assists under his belt from 16 games across all competitions. The arrival of Jobe could increase internal competition and maybe we as fans will get to witness something special.
