Craig Burley suggests Mauricio Pochettino start Armando Broja instead of Nicolas Jackson in next Chelsea game

Craig Burley has told Mauricio Pochettino to drop Nicolas Jackson for the next Chelsea game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. Jackson is currently leading Chelsea’s forward line and is the top scorer for the Blues, with six goals in 12 matches in the Premier League.

However, in their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United, he was anonymous for the majority of the game and failed to cause any danger in the opposition box.

And the former Blues player, Burley feels Pochettino should now hand the opportunity to Armando Broja, who has made only one start, which came against Fulham.

Broja was also on the scoresheet, but since then, he has appeared as a substitute. But the Argentine manager should rotate his options in the centre-forward position to see if it works.

Broja recently returned from a knee injury after suffering another setback and made a short cameo against Newcastle, (h/t Express) speaking to ESPN, he said:

“Let’s be honest, Nico Jackson’s not the answer. I don’t dislike Broja. I know he’s had his injury problems, but I think I’d rather have him up front than Jackson. I know he got his goals against Tottenham, but, come on, let’s be realistic—they were down to nine men at the time.”

Should Pochettino start Armando Broja in the next game?

Newcastle completely outmanoeuvred us, and it came down to each player being merely mediocre against them. It is unfair to single out one player because that guy will inevitably play poorly if he isn’t provided with adequate support. We didn’t know what occurred, but we were much worse in the second half after being better in the first.

Burley stated that he wants Broja to assume more responsibility and that Pochettino needs to consider giving him an opportunity to play against Brighton. Since bouncing back from the setback, he has participated in two games and should be given a chance to start the next match.
