Chris Sutton claims Chelsea will be desperate for Mykhailo Mudryk to be passed fit

Speaking to BBC Sport, pundit Chris Sutton claims that Chelsea will be desperate for talented Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk to be passed fit for the clash against Burnley this weekend.

How much of a difference a single game can make to a player’s fortunes! After being continually ridiculed for being in the squad despite a lack of performances, Mudryk ended his goal drought against Fulham last week.

Suddenly, everyone is pushing for him to be a part of the game against Burnley despite the fact that he suffered an injury against the Cottagers. Pochettino will be hoping that the Ukrainian can recover full fitness before facing Vincent Kompany’s side.

Mykhailo Mudryk joined the Blues in January to very high expectations and it is safe to say that until now, he has flattered to deceive. For all the talent and the obvious potential, it has not translated into performances on the pitch and Chelsea fans were getting frustrated.

Now, we all know that one swallow does not make a summer but breaking his goal drought is a good place to start. Now that he has that monkey off his back, he can focus on regaining his confidence and becoming a more consistent player for the Blues.

Speaking about the situation, here is what Sutton had to say about Chelsea will be feeling about Mudryk right now and he couldn’t have been more accurate

“Scoring goals has been the Blues’ biggest problem recently, so it was important for them that Mykhailo Mudryk finally got off the mark against Fulham. Now they must hope he is fit to face Burnley too”

If the talented winger fails to recover in time for the clash against the Clarets, then the Blues might have to turn to someone like Ian Maatsen to fill in that role. Playing Raheem Sterling on the left and Cole Palmer on the right is also an option.

Continuity is very important to be consistent in football and if Mudryk can build on what was a promising performance against Fulham, then his Chelsea career can finally take off. It is high time.
