Injury Update: Chelsea star deemed fit to face Burnley at the weekend

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo is in contention to face Burnley

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea fans have been handed excellent news, as Moises Caicedo is fit to face Burnley on Saturday after the midfielder was subbed off during the closing stages of a 2-0 win over Fulham on Monday night.

Mauricio Pochettino later updated on their record signing injury and claimed he had a contusion and will hopefully be fit enough for the trip to Turf Moor.

It will be a relief for Chelsea, who have recorded many injuries this season. The latest victim is Ben Chilwell, who is set to be out until December. Chelsea won’t have their regular fullback available for the Burnley game and will hope that replacements meet the necessary standards.

Alongside Caicedo, Armando Broja and Mykhaylo Mudryk were limped off in the second half against Fulham. While Broja’s substitution was due to precaution, Mudryk’s situation remains unclear for now.

Meanwhile, Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, and Benoit Badiashile are all still recovering from their respective injuries, and Malo Gusto has been suspended to face Vincent Kompany. When they play Burnley, the Pochettino team will strive to sustain their winning streak considering that they will then be facing teams such as Arsenal, Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Manchester United.

Moises Caicedo’s availability will be a welcome boost for the Blues, who have been influential in the middle of the pitch alongside Enzo Fernandez and have brought stability to the midfield. However, Pochettino should also keep in mind that he cannot play Caicedo in every game and should allow him maximum rest because, due to fatigue, he can sustain an injury.

His backup, Lesley Ugochukwu, has been imperative and made sure the Ecuadorian’s absence wasn’t felt. It is also good for his growth to operate as a backup midfielder, as he won’t be under as much pressure to perform well in every game. Burnley is currently 18th in the table, and let’s hope we capitalise on their poor run of form.
