Nottingham Forest nearing agreement with Chelsea to sign out-of-favour star

Nottingham Forest are close to finalising the signing of Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to Football.London, Nottingham Forest are close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea for the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi in a deal worth £8 million this summer transfer window.

Hudson-Odoi has already made his feelings clear as he informed the club that he wants to leave on a permanent basis. Fulham were the favourites to sign the winger but were unwilling to pay the £8 million asking price for the Blues ace.

Meanwhile, this has given Forest a clear run to sign the winger which will allow the Blues to sell him for good. Hudson-Odoi’s career at Cobham has stagnated and a parting of the ways is the best foot forward for all parties.

The 22-year-old was sent on loan to Bayern Leverkusen last season, but after seeing little success with his performance, he made the return to West London. It is understood Chelsea are likely to accept Forest’s bid despite personal terms still to be agreed upon.

Hudson-Odoi should have been on an upward trajectory after he broke into the first team from Chelsea’s academy. His performance saw the Blues bind him to a long-term contract despite Bayern Munich’s pressing to sign him.

The winger’s performance, however, hasn’t been quite convincing. He is now expected to depart the Blues, which will be fortunate for him as his future doesn’t lie at Chelsea. Whatever fee we can bring in could be used to further revitalise the squad in other key areas.

Not to mention that Hudson-Odoi is only 22 years old, so it is understandable if he didn’t have enough of an imprint to persuade the team to keep him. However, he still has a chance to resurrect his career at another club, where, more playing time can help him develop into an exceptional forward. He is a brilliant player and could even earn himself a big move later on if he impresses at Forest.

He will play in the Premier League, which should help him rediscover his form. If he does well there, other teams will undoubtedly queue up to recruit him in the future.
