Manchester United seal €65 million deal to land Belgian ace on Chelsea radar

Manchester City agree €65 million fee with Stade Rennais for Chelsea target Jeremy Doku

Stade Rennais and Manchester City have come to an agreement over a €65 million fee for Jeremy Doku amidst interest from Chelsea in him, according to Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News on Twitter (h/t football.london).

The Blues have been heavily linked with the forward in the ongoing transfer window. However, it looks like the Sky Blues are set to pip us to the Belgium international’s signature.

As things stand, the Cityzens have come to a consensus with the Ligue 1 outfit over a deal for the 21-year-old. Pep Guardiola looks set to add another exciting young talent to his ranks.

City have lost a number of players this summer. Ilkay Gundogan has left the Sky Blues after being a key member of their treble-winning team in the 2022/23 term.

In the attack, Riyad Mahrez also parted ways with the Cityzens earlier this summer. The 32-year-old signed for Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ahli. The Etihad Stadium side will also be without Kevin De Bruyne for some time after he picked up an injury.

Doku is one of the most exciting attacking prospects in football at the moment. The Belgian signed for Rennes in the summer of 2020 from Anderlecht. Since then, he has been ever-present in their starting lineup.

The forward has started off the new season in fine fashion. He found the back of the net for the Roazhon Park side in the opening league game against Metz, which ended in a 5-1 win for them.

As for Chelsea, we have already made a number of additions to our forward line over the last year. As things stand, the Blues have the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in our ranks.

What the Stamford Bridge side are evidently missing is a prolific goalscorer. Nicolas Jackson still has a long way to go in his career, while Christopher Nkunku will be on the sidelines for some time. Thus, City potentially getting a hold of Doku should not change our plans.
