“Dangerous”- Liverpool star outlines Chelsea threat ahead of Premier League opener

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota wary of Chelsea ahead of Premier League opener

Diogo Jota, who plays for Liverpool, is wary of Chelsea ahead of the Premier League opener between the two clubs on 13 August at Stamford Bridge.

Going into the game, the Blues will have a new manager in charge, with Mauricio Pochettino looking to get off to a quick start at the West London club. However, the Reds are arguably one of the toughest opponents to start our season.

Speaking to the media via Liverpool Echo, Jota is hopeful of getting a positive result against Chelsea. However, the Portugal international also acknowledges the threat the Blues pose.

“We want to show something different this season and we finished higher than them. They’ve got a new manager and will start from scratch, they can be dangerous but we always know that Stamford Bridge is not easy at all so it’s a great start of the Premier League.”

Liverpool did not enjoy the best of seasons in the 2022/23 term. Jurgen Klopp’s team struggled to keep pace with Manchester City, who they have been going toe-to-toe with over the years.

The previous campaign saw the Merseyside outfit finish fifth in the league table. Apart from faltering in the English top flight, the Reds were unable to go far in the domestic and European cup competitions as well.

Jota himself has been underwhelming for some time now. Injuries have hampered him as well. While the 26-year-old found the back of the net seven times and provided eight assists in 28 appearances in all competitions in the previous campaign, his performances were not encouraging.

As for Chelsea, we had a season to forget as well. Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter were both sacked in the 2022/23 term. Frank Lampard was unable to do much either.
