Report: Chelsea hoping to confirm two summer additions following medicals

Chelsea hope to confirm the signings of Romeo Lavia and Deivid Washington

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea is expected to finalise the signing of Romeo Lavia and Deivid Washington after the youngsters underwent medicals yesterday in the summer transfer window.

After beating Liverpool to the signing of Moises Caicedo for a British record £115 million, the Blues once again got the better of Liverpool landing Lavia, after the player decided to join the West Londoners instead of the Reds.

Liverpool had their three bids rejected by Southampton before the Saints ultimately agreed to £50m from the Reds, but it was too late from Jurgen Klopp’s side as the 19-year-old had already made up his mind to choose Chelsea over the Reds.

Now the club is finalising the last details of the £58 million deal as both clubs negotiate players’ futures and the structure of the fee. Chelsea’s acquisition of a Belgian midfielder will see the West Londoners’ spending reach £900 million under Todd Boehly.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino’s side has already agreed to sign Santos’ talented Washington for £17 million. This will make him out third Brazilian signing of the summer after the club landed Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos.

Following their 1-1 draw against Liverpool the Blues are now preparing for their next game against West Ham United, which will take place on August 20.

It would be ideal if we wrapped up deals for both players as soon as possible. With the addition of Lavia, we now have an appealing midfield that includes Enzo Fernandez, Caicedo, and the Belgian midfielder.

We were successful in signing our main targets at least as far as the midfield were concerned. The icing on the cake is that Chelsea’s newest additions have Premier League experience, making it easier for them to get used to life at Stamford Bridge.

Washington is another elite centre-forward prospect but it’s unlikely that he will enjoy a continued run out this season. Instead a loan move would be ideal so that he can get the necessary playing experience for his continued growth.
