Chelsea close to reaching personal agreement with 21-year-old PL star

Chelsea closing on reaching agreement on personal terms with Michael Olise

According to the Evening Standard (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea are attempting to land one of their former academy players for £45 million from Palace. They are understood to be closing on a personal agreement to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Olise’s potential signing will see him reunited with the club after leaving the Blues as an academy player. The 21-year-old was in West London between 2009 and 2015.

Last season, the youngster’s performance captivated clubs in the Premier League, with Manchester City also keen on adding him as they are looking for Riyad Mahrez’s replacement.

Olise can play on the right wing and also as an attacking midfielder, and last season he registered 11 assists in 34 games for the Eagles. The Frenchman is currently nursing a hamstring injury that he picked up during international duty for France Under-21s.

Olise’s acquisition will be another top signing in Chelsea’s busy summer after the club finally unveiled Moises Caicedo as a Blues player on Monday. Now they are closing in on Romeo Lavia’s signing, who has chosen to join Chelsea over Liverpool.

After the 1-1 draw against Liverpool in their opening Premier League game of the season, the Blues will next face West Ham United on August 20. Hopefully, our team has a more sturdy look to its midfield against the Hammers.

This will be regarded as one of the most significant transfer windows once we’ve acquired Olise because we’ll have practically completed our ideal signings in the summer window. Olise’s acquisition will increase our options on the right wing and in midfield.

Considering that Noni Madueke’s return date is still unknown, it appears Olise can play on the right flank in the meantime. Otherwise, we can always put Raheem Sterling down that flank and play Olise as a No. 10.

Again, we have spent a lot during the transfer window, but with the likes of Olise, Lavia and Caicedo, we have planned for the present as well. Olise is a mercurial playmaker whose ceiling is very high. Working under Mauricio Pochettino will do his career a lot of good.
