Ben Jacobs confirms Chelsea are leading race to sign Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus

According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea have offered a slightly better package to Mohammed Kudus as they look to complete his signing. It is also understood that the Ajax attacking midfielder has been valued at around £40 million by the Dutch side.

The Ghanian player was predominantly used as either a centre-forward or on the wings for Ajax last season, making 30 appearances and netting 11 goals in the Dutch league.

However, the 22-year-old is a versatile forward who could also operate as an attacking midfielder. Arsenal are among the clubs keen on signing the player, but they will need to sell some players to raise money, having already splashed money on the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.

This gives Chelsea the upper hand in the race to make the signing as soon as possible. Kudus can fill in for Mason Mount if the Blues are successful in buying him.

Ben Jacobs has given a fresh update on Chelsea’s pursuit of the Ajax youngster and told GiveMeSport:

“Nothing has really moved with Arsenal and Kudus at this point. They made an inquiry a couple of weeks back, but I think that it’s fair to say at this stage that Chelsea are the more active on Kudus and perhaps have even offered him a slightly better package as well.”

We are now in the driver’s seat in the race to sign the 22-year-old, so it will be advantageous for the team if the signing is completed without any hiccups. The Blues are prepared to provide him with a better package which will always be an advantage in our favour when it comes to personal terms.

Given that we are lacking in attacking midfielders and that his asking price appears reasonable, Kudus would be the perfect addition. He can also play down the flanks and offer much-needed competition to Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk in that regard.

Hopefully, Chelsea are Kudus’ next destination in a career that seems destined for huge things. His versatility, coupled with his dribbling, shooting, passing and pace, make him a brilliant player to have in the final third. He is the kind of young talent we should be signing because already pretty far on the development curve rather than being an unknown youngster.
