PL rivals overtake PSG and Chelsea in race for 23-year-old Serie A star

Tottenham will overtake Chelsea and PSG for the signature of Dusan Vlahovic

As per French outlet Foot Mercato (h/t Football London), Tottenham Hotspur are set to overtake Chelsea and PSG for the signature of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

It is revealed that the North London club are entering the other two interested parties for the Serbian international. They will want to sign him should Harry Kane leave the club. The latter is linked with Bayern Munich.

A couple of days ago, it was reported in Metro that Chelsea have 23-year-old Vlahovic on their shortlist as they seek to bolster the centre-forward department. But, the player is waiting for an offer from PSG as he would prefer a move there than Stamford Bridge.

The Tottenham link does not make much sense because the Kane situation might take some time to resolve. Until then, how can they convince a striker of Vlahovic’s capability to join the club, knowing the England captain is still in the squad?

We know very well about Chelsea. Although the Blues signed young Nicolas Jackson to fill up the vacant number nine position, they must get an experienced and proven striker inside the door as soon as possible.

Vlahovic is a highly talented and experienced striker who could do with a spell away from the mess that is Juventus to regain his name as one of the top marksmen in Europe, which he was when at Fiorentina.

Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino would present that opportunity for the Serbian. Does he want to take that or wait on PSG to make the offer?

The stumbling block could be that the Blues cannot offer any European football next season. PSG, on the other hand, are virtually by default playing Champions League football every year.

It would be a shock to see him at Spurs given what a potential downgrade that would be from Juve, who are used to winning trophies and playing in Europe on a majority basis. Chelsea’s project is far more exciting (at least in our view). Let’s hope it is enticing enough for him.
