“Best solution”- Pochettino confirms Chelsea want to get rid of wantaway star

Mauricio Pochettino reveals Chelsea are working on selling Romelu Lukaku

According to Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are hoping to get rid of Romelu Lukaku, as the club has claimed they are working to sell him for good in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old was not part of the 29-man squad that travelled to the USA for pre-season games, starting against Wrexham on Wednesday. It would appear the Belgian has played his final game in Blue.

The former Inter Milan striker has been pushing for a move ever since his loan expired, and both Juventus and Inter Milan are interested in signing the striker. The latter have since walked away, more or less lowering our options.

Inter pulled out of the race after they got to know that the Belgian striker held talks with Juventus, and now the Old Lady are leading the race to sign the 30-year-old. Hopefully a deal can be agreed upon soon so that we may proceed with rebuilding the squad.

Mauricio Pochettino is in the loop as regards to the player. During an interview, the former Paris Saint-Germain head coach gave an update on Lukaku’s situation and told ESPN:

“It is obvious what is going on with him. I think between the club and the player, they share the same similar ideas, and we are working on that to try to fix it and have the best solution for both parties.”

Pochettino has publicly confirmed that Chelsea are now working to get rid of Lukaku, and that should be enough to indicate that he is not in his plans for next season. A parting of the ways this summer will benefit all the parties involved and let both sides call time on what has clearly been a poor marriage of sorts. We wish Lukaku well but sadly it has not worked out at Stamford Bridge.

His departure will remove an enormous salary from our books and free up space to bring in reinforcements. It will come as a surprise if the Blues fail to go big for a striker before the summer window shuts.
