“Really excited”- Pochettino fires potshots at PL rivals following Chelsea arrival

Mauricio Pochettino claims it was easy to join Chelsea despite his Tottenham Hotspur legacy

Mauricio Pochettino took a dig at his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, and claimed it was easy to join Chelsea despite the rivalry between both the clubs.

Chelsea appointed Pochettino following extensive talks with the Argentine coach, who impressed the board and hopes to bring the club back to winning days. It will not be easy but the 51-year-old is as good as any top manager in the English top flight.

Following his arrival at Cobham, Pochettino appears more than ready to take the challenge head-on. Not only is he eager to take on the job but appears to understand just what it means to be handed the keys to Stamford Bridge.

The West Londoners finished the campaign in 12th place, which saw the hiring and firing of managers under Todd Boehly’s first year as the Blues’ owner. Surely we should be doing better given the players at our disposal and our reputation.

Now the Argentine manager will hope not to repeat the same and try to re-build the club’s status, and the manager did not have any regrets about becoming Chelsea’s next head coach, (h/t Metro) as he told the official website:

‘’For me, it’s a pleasure and an honour to be now involved with Chelsea football club. We are so excited, and I know very well that Chelsea is one of the greatest football clubs in the world. And of course, it was easy for us to take the decision to move here. I think we are really excited. We are so happy.”

Both clubs have a good legacy, but not to sound demeaning, Chelsea are the most accomplished club in London and have achieved every possible trophy in football. Pochettino had his shot at Tottenham and took the club as far as he could. It is now time for him to target silverware.

As long as he goes on to secure trophies at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino will prove he made the right decision to join Chelsea despite his previous affiliation to Tottenham. After all, the victors write the history books.

He is a pragmatic manager who, before picking us, undoubtedly knew what he could bring to the table to make the club great once more. Hopefully, the fans will support him and give him a chance to succeed. The more it annoys Tottenham fans, the better.
