Journalist confirms renewed effort from Italian giants for out-of-favour Chelsea star

Fabrizio Romano confirms AC Milan will make a new offer for Chelsea star Christian Pulisic

According to Fabrizio Romano, another bid is expected from AC Milan for Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic, who is also keen on joining the Serie A powerhouse in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The transfer guru further claimed Chelsea are expecting Milan to make an offer in the region of €25–30 million to consider selling the USA international. While it is a loss on what we paid for him from Borussia Dortmund, it represents a fair value for a player who still has many years left in the tank.

The 24-year-old has also attracted interest from Olympique Lyonnais, but as per the report, he is expected to turn down the move as he only wants a move to Milan. This firmly puts the ball in the Italian side’s court with them fairly ahead of the competition in the race to land the USMNT ace.

The former Borussia Dortmund player has agreed personal terms to join the Rossoneri, despite their opening bid of around €15 million being rejected by Chelsea. The onus is now on the clubs to reach an agreement.

However, now Romano has claimed they will once again make an improved offer, which should convince the West Londoners to reach an agreement. Speaking on it in his exclusive Caught Offside column, he said:

“Christian Pulisic is really, really tempted by Serie A. AC Milan asked about Pulisic one year ago when they spoke to Chelsea about Rafael Leao, but then the Portuguese forward was, and remains, untouchable. Still, talks are ongoing; Pulisic is in the club’s plan, and he’s pushing to join Milan, but Chelsea want €25–30m, so I expect Milan to bid again soon.”

Pulisic has plausible reasons to believe that AC Milan are the suitable team where he can rediscover his form and he appears keen to join them. A move to the San Siro will reunite him with former Blues Fikayo Tomori and Oliver Giroud, both of whom have enjoyed considerable success in Italy. Not only is Pulisic likely to enjoy more playing time at Milan but is also likely to thrive in a much slower league where his pace and ability on the ball can stand out.

Pulisic is only 24 and has not reached his full potential yet. Milan already have one of the finest wingers in the world in Rafael Leao and Pulisic could learn much working alongside the former Serie A MVP. A parting of the ways is the best foot forward for both Chelsea and the player.
