Report: Wantaway star to train with Chelsea on Monday

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will return to training on Monday

According to Daily Mail, Romelu Lukaku is expected to take part in Chelsea’s Monday (July 17) training session after Inter Milan have pulled out of signing the Belgian Striker.

Inter Milan were keen to raise their offer and paid £30 million plus add-ons, while Juventus tabled £32 million plus £2 million in midweek. But Inter weren’t able to hear a response from the striker and feared the player had spoken to Juventus over a potential move.

However, Chelsea want to sell the striker despite him returning to training on Monday, but Lukaku won’t travel with the squad to the USA for pre-season games.

The Blues also pushed back his training days for him to decide his future, but it was also believed that the former Manchester United player did not want to fly back to London and was forcing a move away.

What to make of this?

Chelsea have already claimed they want £40m for the 30-year-old, and it’s understood the Old Lady are also open to selling Dusan Vlahovic for just £21m to sign the former Everton striker.

The Belgian ace joined Chelsea for £98m but couldn’t make a significant contribution during his one year at the club and was loaned back to Inter. Chelsea are now looking to sell him permanently and cut their losses before his valuation plummets further.

After everything he has done, hopefully, Monday will be his final training session, ending the long-drawn saga. With withdrawing from the race, Juventus have now an edge to sign the player. They could be in trouble this summer if Dusan Vlahovic’s move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) materialises.

In that case, they would need a new striker. Hopefully, Lukaku is that man for them. Chelsea fans would only want the best for the Belgium international, but the majority of the fanbase perhaps realises that he may not succeed here after all.

His departure will also be a terrific way to demonstrate that the club comes first and that we are not here to accommodate players who do not want to be with the team. It seems Lukaku’s exit is only a matter of time but what remains to be seen is the potential fee we can rake in for him.
