Chelsea star Christian Pulisic agrees personal terms with Italian giants AC Milan
United States and Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has agreed in principle to join AC Milan on a long-term deal, but the Blues and Serie A club are yet to reach an agreement regarding the transfer fee.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, (h/t ESPN) The former Borussia Dortmund star is open to taking a large pay cut to join the Rossoneri. It would appear that minor details are to be sorted out before he makes his move.
However, Chelsea are holding onto their asking price of €25 million ($27.3 million) while the Serie A giants are willing to pay in the range of €15 million to €18 million. It remains to be seen who blinks first given that the player appears keen on the move.
Having sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United, Milan can afford to strengthen their roster this summer. A deal for Ruben Loftus-Cheek has already been agreed to and it now remains to be seen if Pulisic will join him in Italy.
However, the deal is far from done. If the deal doesn’t progress then Milan could consider walking off, which Chelsea certainly don’t want. It is in our best interests to recoup what we can given Pulisic’s fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
If the Blues are ready to accept their fee, then an agreement can be reached between both clubs. Moving to the San Siro will also see Pulisic link up with Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud, both former Blues.
Of course, €15 million to €18 million is not a large fee, but given that Pulisic had a rough patch last season that hurt his stock. We cannot always have it our way, especially with underperforming players.
Chelsea undoubtedly wants to increase its revenue, but ultimately they might have to make concessions for certain players. Unless another club is willing to come in and enter a bidding war, we might have to sell the USMNT star on the cheap.

Given that Pulisic is only 24 and still possesses a wealth of skills, the move will be beneficial for him as it will allow him to get back to his career and seek a fresh start. A parting of the ways could be the best foot forward for both parties.
