Chelsea preparing huge offer for South American star playing in PL

A huge offer is on the way from Chelsea for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo

According to Football London, Chelsea are preparing a massive offer in their attempt to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

As revealed many times by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, personal terms are not an issue for the Blues as Caicedo has said yes to a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

A few days ago, it was revealed in the Telegraph (subscription required) that Brighton would demand something more than £70m to sell the Ecuador international.

Will Chelsea’s first offer be close to that range or go for something lower to test the Seagulls’ waters? Not sure bargaining works when a club is trying to sign a player from Brighton.

The Blues have sold three midfielders and let go of the other in the transfer window so far. Mateo Kovacic has gone to Manchester City while Mason Mount has signed for their neighbours. N’Golo Kante is now in Saudi Arabia and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will play for AC Milan.

After all that, if we look at the quality central midfield options Mauricio Pochettino currently have, only Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher remain.

It is all set up for the club to go big and sign Caicedo to partner Fernandez in central midfield. Gallagher can then either float around as a number eight or a number 10.

With so many arrows pointing in the direction of Chelsea signing the Ecuadorian, the pressure must be on them to get this deal done before it gets late and other clubs potentially join the race. Manchester United are already lurking around.

The hope is that this gets sorted out soon so that Pochettino and his staff have the clarity before the pre-season preparations become intense and driven towards how the team is set up ahead of the start of the season.
