Chelsea reject Fulham’s opening bid for 22-year-old forward

Chelsea have turned down Fulham’s opening bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea have rejected Fulham’s opening bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi. The 22-year-old returned to West London after a poor loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen.

The youngster made only 14 outings for the German side and failed to make an impression as he recorded only one assist. His future remains in doubt at Chelsea.

Considering the Blues have rebuffed the Cottagers’ first bid, it remains to be seen how things pan out and if Fulham will make another offer for the youngster. One can imagine that he isn’t fancied a lot in SW6 given he was allowed to leave on loan last summer.

Hudson-Odoi is also keen on leaving the club in the summer window to find regular game time, as it will be tough for the 22-year-old to find enough minutes on the pitch after the arrival of other youngsters.

However, Fulham remain the only club to have made a bid for Chelsea’s star, who is just 22 and clearly needs more development to become a regular for us. Fulham could be where he can flourish, with less expectations and less spotlight.

The Blues will be hoping for another bid from Fulham, as the first offer might not have convinced the club to sell him permanently given he is young and certainly has room for improvement.

Given that he is only 22 and that the Blues already have a sufficient number of young players who still require competent guidance, there is undoubtedly room for progress. Given our heavy investments in Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk coupled with the presence of Raheem Sterling, it seems hard for another youngster to force himself into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

The Cobham graduate had a chance to rejuvenate his career at Leverkusen, but it didn’t quite work out. It would be wise to finally let him leave because time is running out for him to prove himself here. There may also be a sense of regret among those at Chelsea, given they apparently turned down a £70million bid from Bayern Munich for CHO in 2020.
