Chelsea set to make opening offer for talented French attacker

Chelsea are preparing an initial bid for Ligue 1 star Rayan Cherki

Chelsea are preparing an opening bid for U21 France international Rayan Cherki as they look for an alternative for Christian Pulisic, who is joining AC Milan in the ongoing summer transfer window.

According to ESPN, The USMNT star is closing in on a move to the San Siro, and the 24-year-old is set to undergo a medical test for the Serie A club in the next 24 hours. With him gone, it is imperative that we bring in reinforcements in the attack.

Olympique Lyonnais’s talented midfielder Cherki is seen as the successor of the former Borussia Dortmund star. The young Frenchman certainly has the raw ability to develop into a star performer at Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Lyon, and the club has valued him at €40 million. The French giants earlier rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s bid for the youngster but are now open to selling him.

This is due to their financial problems, as they failed to comply with the Financial Fair Play rule this season, which has forced them to offload a number of their players. It is something we are familiar with, having to travel the same boat following a poor 2022/23 season.

It is also understood both clubs have a good relationship given their previous negotiations for Malo Gusto. Cherki will be a good addition to the club, as Chelsea appear keen on bringing together promising youngsters under Todd Boehly. A versatile attacker, Cherki could develop into one of the most dangerous attackers on our roster.

Given that Mason Mount joined Manchester United, the Blues need reinforcements in midfield, especially those who can push forward to support the frontline. After all, Mauricio Pochettino should be given the tools he needs to succeed in Blue.

Chelsea should begin acquiring players as soon as possible because we have parted ways with a good number of players and we have now adequate space to make additions. Cherki’s signing will help, but he is far from the finished article. We need the right balance between promise and experience to put together a balanced outfit.
