AC Milan make second offer to sign 24-year-old Chelsea star

AC Milan make a second offer of €22m to sign Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic

As per the Athletic (subscription required), AC Milan have made a second offer worth €22m in an attempt to sign Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic this summer.

The Serie A giants made an offer of €14m a few days ago. Personal terms for them are not an issue with the player. But, Chelsea made it clear that they want an offer more than that to accept.

French side Lyon made a €25m offer, a figure which is close to what the Blues want for Pulisic. It remains to be seen whether the USA international is focused on a move to Milan, or a turn towards Lyon is a possibility.

Football London revealed that the 24-year-old was a subject of interest for German side Union Berlin, as the Bundesliga club prepare for their first season in the Champions League.

It is more or less clear that Pulisic wants to leave Chelsea this summer. His contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer (Transfermarkt). So, there is no point in keeping him now and allowing him to go for free in a year.

The next destination might depend on which league the American star wants to ply his trade in. The Italian league, for instance, is a bit more technical but slow in pace. He has the game to succeed there.

Let’s hope the deal gets completed as soon as possible. Acquiring the money from player sales should help Chelsea in deciding how to go about signing their transfer targets in the window.

To be fair to them, the club has done an excellent job of finding clubs for the players who are not part of the plans here anymore. Pulisic finding the right club would be good for him and he could look to fulfil the potential he showed during his days at Borussia Dortmund. His time in SW6, however, seems to be up.
