“Peform even more”- Sergio Aguero backs Mauricio Pochettino to get the best out of Chelsea star

Sergio Aguero feels Mauricio Pochettino can get best out of Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez

Sergio Aguero has backed Chelsea’s appointment of Mauricio Pochettino and said that the Argentine manager can bring out the best in Enzo Fernandez.

The West Londoners broke the British transfer record when they signed the 2022 World Cup winner from Benfica for £107 million.

The long-awaited appointment of an ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager to lead the team was finally made public by the Blues after Chelsea’s last game against Newcastle United, which ended in a 1-1 draw and ensured a 12th place finish for us.

Pochettino faces a challenging assignment that includes trimming down the bloated roster and bringing in a quality striker, midfielder, and custodian.

Speaking to Stake.com, (h/t Metro), former Manchester City striker Aguero had a similar sentiment, as he said:

‘’His input can be very valuable. Already at Tottenham, he has shown his worth and that he empowers young players. He has a big task ahead of him because he has a very large squad, and he will have to find a balance.”

‘’As I said, Poch always empowers his young players, and Enzo is one of those. This was his first season in England, and although Chelsea did not perform well, he showed that he is up to the task of this great league. I think that with Pochettino’s hand, he will perform even more and better.’’

Aguero’s claim is on point. Pochettino will need a lot of time as well as the fans’ support throughout his rebuilding phase. We saw it at Tottenham, Espanyol, and Southampton, just what he did. He turned Espanyol and Saints into wonderful attack-minded teams, while at Spurs he transformed them into a competitive club with modest financial backing.

He is a pragmatic manager, and even though he hasn’t won enough trophies, he can still have a significant impact on a club with his management style. Fernandez is a sumptuous player given his eye for the killer pass, surety in possession and composure despite being harried by opponent players. Poch would love to have a player like this in his team.

At Spurs, he had quality all around the pitch but he truly lacked world-class midfielders. The former Saints manager has a track record of mentoring young players and hails from Fernandez’s nation, the Chelsea midfielder can surely flourish under him.
