“If I could get him” Pundit namedrops Chelsea star as dream Manchester United signing

Rio Ferdinand keen to see Chelsea defender Levi Colwill move to Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand claimed that if he gets the opportunity, he will sign Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill for Manchester United.

The former Red Devils defender deemed the Blues youngster as a dream signing for his former club. But Chelsea rate him highly and will not want to sell him to a direct rival of all teams.

Colwill’s standing has increased as a result of his excellent loan stint with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he played 17 Premier League matches. He played a big role in the Seagulls securing European football for next season.

The West Londoners view Colwill as an integral part of the team for next season, despite the Seagulls‘ desire to sign the 20-year-old on a permanent basis. The Blues intend to offer him a contract and keep him for as many years as they can.

However, Ferdinand also sees the youngster as one of the best defenders and claims he is his dream signing. Speaking to FIVE’s YouTube channel, the former centre-back claimed:

“If I could get him, my dream one would be Levi Colwill. But I think Chelsea is going to keep him. I think they’ve seen how good he is now.”

When an acclaimed defender like Ferdinand admires you, then you are truly worth the hype. It’s called ‘game recognises game,” and Chelsea knows how good Colwill is after he enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Brighton, where he matured into a seasoned defender under Roberto de Zerbi.

Also, United have Lisandro Martinez, who has been a statement signing for them in the previous summer window, so it doesn’t make sense for them to go for Colwill, as both Martinez and the 20-year-old play in the same position.

Colwill is the epitome of the modern day centre-back and has everything in his locker to become a mainstay for Chelsea. Selling him is something the Blues should not even consider.
