“We will see”- Napoli hint at potential sale of world-class Chelsea target

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis claims they could sell Chelsea target Victor Osimhen if a big offer arrives

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has claimed that they would consider selling Chelsea target Victor Osimhen if an attractive bid comes in this summer.

The Napoli striker has been linked with a move to Premier League club Chelsea, but the Blues have not made any offers for the Nigerian so far. Given his standing in world football, it should cost the Blues a fortune.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 26 goals in 32 Serie A matches and steered the club to the Scudetto for the first time since 1990. To call him a legend in the streets of Naples would be an understatement.

His excellent season has attracted many top European clubs, but Osimhen’s move could be difficult given the high asking price Napoli have set.

Chelsea have long been interested in signing the former LOSC Lille striker, but now the club is closing in on signing Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, which could shelve the pursuit of Osimhen for now.

However, Napoli’s president has asserted that they may consider selling the striker if a lucrative bid is made. As he claimed, his words have been quoted by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter:

“We’ve reached an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen to extend his contract for two more years. In case an exorbitant bid impossible to reject arrives, we will see and make the best decision for the club”.

Victor Osimhen hopes of playing in Premier League one day.

Osimhen has already stated that he wants to play in the Premier League. While he may not do so next season, there is every reason to believe he could eventually transition from the Serie A to the Premier League.

Chelsea’s ambitions of acquiring the Nigerian striker don’t appear realistic at this moment, but you can never rule anything out. After all, it is no secret that the Blues lack a reliable goal scorer who can score bucketloads for fun.
