“No negotiations”- Serie A giants deny Chelsea talks for World Cup winning star

Inter Milan deny negotiations with Chelsea for Lautaro Martinez

Javier Zanetti, the vice president of Inter Milan, has denied holding negotiations with Chelsea regarding a move for Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The Argentina international has been one of the best forwards in Italy over the years. Since signing the 25-year-old in the summer of 2018, the Nerazzurri have reaped the benefits from the striker. Therefore, it should be no surprise that top teams from around Europe have an eye on him.

However, speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Zanetti, who is an icon at Inter, has rubbished talks of Inter being in touch with Chelsea.

“There’s nothing with other clubs for Lautaro, no negotiations. I can guarantee that Lautaro’s very happy at Inter.”

In the last few seasons, Martinez has gone from strength to strength and has developed into a world-class number nine. The Argentine has developed a keen eye for goal and has become the Serie A giants’ talisman.

The striker enjoyed an impressive previous campaign with the Nerazzurri. Simone Inzaghi’s team made it to the Champions League final but lost to Manchester City.

However, in Qatar, the 25-year-old triumphed with La Albiceleste. He came on as a substitute as Lionel Scaloni’s team beat France on penalties in the final.

At Chelsea, the striking department has seemingly lacked the cutting edge for some time now. Romelu Lukaku was brought back in the summer of 2021. Unfortunately, the Belgian was unable to make a mark and was sent on loan to Inter last summer.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling have also been unable to bring much to our attack. The likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech have been unable to make a mark at the club, either.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Martinez in our ranks. However, it remains to be seen whether the Argentine will be pursued by us in the coming months.
