Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea ace’s move to PL rivals is imminent

Fabrizio Romano confirms when Arsenal will unveil Chelsea star Kai Havertz soon

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Arsenal will announce the signing of Kai Havertz after the Gunners agreed in principle with Chelsea to sign the forward.

The German’s departure from Chelsea now looks imminent after Arsenal agreed a deal in the region of £67.5 million ($85.8 million) to sign the former Bayern Leverkusen forward.

Discussion over the 23-year-old progressed quickly on Wednesday after personal terms were finalised, and Havertz will become Mikel Arteta’s first summer signing. He will hope to make a bigger impact at The Emirates following three inconsistent years at Chelsea.

The German international also made his feelings apparent when he informed Chelsea that he was not interested in renewing his contract and was open to joining the Blues’ rival. His deal expires in 2024, and the Blues do not wish to be in a position where he walks away for nothing in the following year.

In order to trim down the unwieldy roster before the start of the new season, Mauricio Pochettino was also comfortable with Havertz leaving the team. Now Romano has revealed that Arsenal will unveil the 23-year-old in the Gunners’ jersey, as he wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside column:

“Arsenal have completed their first signing of the summer: Kai Havertz will join from Chelsea for a £67.5 million fee. An official announcement from the clubs is very close; it’s just about signing documents and completing medicals.”

Selling Havertz for £67.5 million is a smart move, given we paid more for the German when we acquired him from Leverkusen. He also did not have a positive impact during his three years at Chelsea, and when players underperform, their stock tends to plummet. However, in this case, we will make a sizable profit from his exit.

Although he struggled to make an impression at Chelsea, Havertz may find success under Mikel Arteta, who has assisted players like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka in rediscovering their touch at Arsenal. It would be unfortunate if Havertz were to succeed in North London, but we should move on and find his replacement.
