Chelsea pushing out-of-favour senior star to make middle-east switch

Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea are forcing Romelu Lukaku to move to Saudi Arabia

Romelu Lukaku, 29, is eager to stay in Europe, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed Chelsea are insisting that he move to the middle east and join the Sauidi Arabian league.

After Inter Milan’s loss to Manchester City in the Champions League final in Istanbul, the striker travelled to the Middle East to meet with Saudi clubs. The 29-year-old is eager to stay at Inter and continue his life in Europe, albeit there have been whispers about leaving.

Curiously, AC Milan are considering a move for Lukaku to reinforce their attacking line. If his disaster class in the final at Istanbul didn’t set Inter fans off, switching the Nerazzurri colours for that of the Rossoneri will certain tip the barrel over the edge.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, (h/t Daily Mail) AC Milan are considering a sensational move for the Belgian forward to add fresh legs to their ageing attack. The Stamford Bridge outfit are ready to part with the player for around £40m.

Lukaku, who was spent last season on loan to Inter, wants to continue next season there only as the Serie A giants are looking for another possible loan move. It is also understood that the Inter’s city rivals are open to buying the striker permanently, which is now tempting the Blues to consider the offer.

With Sandro Tonali nearing a move to Newcastle United, Milan are expecting to use that profit to sign the 29-year-old from West London. Now that AC Milan are also interested, both Inter and Milan could be in a battle to sign the former Manchester United player.

Lukaku, who moved from Inter to Chelsea during the 2021–22 season, had a tumultuous time, struggled to make an impression, and was later loaned back to the Serie A giants.

The club should look after them, and considering that the striker has indicated a desire to play for Inter, the West Londoners should not hesitate to sell him if Milan makes an attractive offer. The Belgian striker is currently on loan from Inter, who are looking to keep the former Toffees player for another loan spell.

The Blues would be wise to finally let go of the 29-year-old, who has shown little desire to play for the team. While we do need a prolific striker, the Belgian has shown little to suggest he is the man for the job.
