Chelsea have rejected a second bid for Mason Mount from rivals Manchester United
As per the BBC, Chelsea have rejected a second bid from Manchester United – worth up to £50m for England international Mason Mount.
The report reveals that the Blues value Mount at around £70m. It seems like they won’t budge from that valuation unless something drastic happens.
The 24-year-old is United manager Erik ten Hag’s top target in this summer transfer window. It remains to be seen if United will come up with an improved third bid.
Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer (Transfermarkt). So, if Chelsea want to get money out of his departure, this summer is the ultimate opportunity.
Hence, it would be surprising if the Blues reject a potential third offer from United for the player, even if it is less what they value him around.
After a stalemate in contract extension negotiations, Chelsea have backed themselves into a corner of having to sell the England international.
The club would want to raise some money through player sales this summer after spending close £600m in the last two transfer windows. The money earned from sales would most probably be used to make key additions to the squad in the coming days.
They have already agreed a deal to sell Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City for £30m, while Kai Havertz is close to joining Arsenal for £65m.
This money would allow the club to balance the financial books and help them in signing players like Moises Caicedo. The Brighton man is on top of the transfer shortlist. But, it is understood that he won’t come for cheap. The arrival of Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson is on the cards as well.

Keeping all those things in mind and knowing he is unlikely to have a future here, Chelsea should accept the next United offer for Mount. If not, it would be a disaster if we fail to sell him now and lose him for nothing next year.
