Bundesliga giants to challenge Arsenal for 24-year-old Chelsea star

Bayern Munich joins Arsenal in the race to sign Chelsea star Kai Havertz

Bayern Munich have shown interest in signing Kai Havertz and could step up their pursuit after Arsenal’s opening bid was rejected by Chelsea.

According to the Daily Mail, Die Roten him as an alternative for Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani. Meanwhile, the Gunners are expected to submit another bid for the German international and appear to be taking the initiative for now.

The Gunners, though, are also pursuing Declan Rice and will eb wary to not overpay for Havertz. Chelsea have demanded around £70 million for the forward but are open to negotiations.

The 23-year-old is, for his part, open to joining Arsenal. Meanwhile, the Blues are ready to offer the former Bayern Leverkusen player a new contract that will see reduced wages.

Havertz could revive his career at Emirates Stadium after failing to impress in West London on a consistent basis. The 23-year-old failed as a striker last season and struggled to score goals, netting only seven times in 35 Premier League games.

Chelsea have every right to demand top dollar given that Havertz still has his best years left in him. More so, there is little reason for us to strengthen a direct rival on the cheap.

The German international’s time at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming an end, but selling him to a direct rival club is not a wise move considering Mikel Arteta’s reputation for mentoring young players.

We rather he moves abroad to the Bundesliga than deck out in an Arsenal jersey. After all, we do have a soft spot for him for scoring the winner in the 2021` UEFA Champions League final.

Sending him to Bayern makes the most sense because he has experience working with Thomas Tuchel and won’t need much time to transition there. However, it also depends on who will make the best offer for this signing, so that will be the primary factor in tempting the former Leverkusen player and the club.
