Mauricio Pochettino is set to become Chelsea’s next manager for the 2023–24 season. According to the Guardian, the former Espanyol manager has accepted to become Chelsea’s new head coach and will begin his duties next week
Pochettino will be Chelsea’s fifth manager following the dismissals of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. while Bruno Saltor served as interim manager for one game, and Frank Lampard will leave the club as interim manager this season.
The Argentine manager is thought to be excited about taking over at Chelsea next season. The Blues endured a dismal season under new ownership. Since then, Chelsea have spent massively in both transfer windows, which led to a bloated squad.
Chelsea are currently 12th in the Premier League table, already out of the Champions League for next season, and a few players have yet to extend their contracts.
The former PSG gaffer will face tough work given that the Blues are in a state of ambiguity, with several players unsure about their prospects at Chelsea.
And now that Pochettino has agreed to terms with another London club, he will undoubtedly have the support of the board and fans in every manner. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have undertaken the project here at SW6.
He has great players ranging from young to senior, and it is now up to him to build a positive attitude and inculcate a sense of confidence in the players.
Frequent defeats have harmed players’ trust in themselves, and the 51-year-old knows exactly how he can help them recover it. Pochettino’s training sessions will be known to the players, as he prefers an aggressive style of football.
It’s the beginning of a new era, and it will take a while for the club to construct from the ground up, but once completed, it will be tremendously rewarding. Things look upwards after a horrid few months in west London. For Poch, this could be the chance to cement his status as a truly world-class coach.
