22-year-old PSG target prefers summer move to Chelsea instead

Manuel Ugarte prefers a move to Chelsea mover Paris Saint-Germain

Manuel Ugarte, 22, is favouring moving to West London over Paris Saint-Germain, giving Chelsea a head start in their pursuit of him.

According to Record, (h/t Daily Mail) Ugarte’s summer transfer preference now appears to be Chelsea over PSG. Both teams are willing to meet the £53 million release clause in order to sign the Sporting CP midfielder.

Mauricio Pochettino has authorised the signing of Ugarte, but Chelsea has been pressing for his signing and wants to finish it as quickly as possible.

The Blues are anticipated to pay £52 million plus a further £4 million in bonuses. Additionally, they are thinking about lending David Datro Fofana to Sporting.

The youngster has turned heads this season, earning 47 appearances for the Portuguese club and starting often for the national side.

The signing of the Uruguayan international will be an enormous relief since N’Golo Kante’s contract is set to expire this season and there have yet to be any reports over his contract talks.

With Kante having a season marred by injuries, the Blues have appeared feeble in defensive midfield. Pochettino, 51, has been confirmed as our manager and would certainly want to bring in players that reflect his style and ideology..

Given that there are frequent last-minute hiccups in signings and rival clubs end up swooping in with substantial offers and hijacking the signings, we shouldn’t count our chickens before they hatch.

Hopefully, we can finalise his signing before PSG potentially propose a large financial move for his acquisition. Their financial clout has been there for all to see under Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s reign.

Given that he is only 22 and has plenty of room for development, his addition will also benefit the team in the long run. And let’s hope we can sign him up before Sporting or Ugarte alter their minds and think about selling him to PSG.
