“They’re two players”- Frank Lampard responds to Chelsea fans’ boos during Bournemouth game

Frank Lampard responds to boos from Chelsea during their substitutions

Frank Lampard said he always appreciates them and said they were fantastic during Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth in response to whistles from Chelsea supporters.

The Blues sang Roman Abramovich’s name throughout the game while also whistling during Chelsea’s substitutions of Raheem Sterling and Hakim Ziyech.

However, Ziyech and Sterling both contributed an assist for the second goal and the third goal, respectively. Benoit Badiashile scored off a cross from Morocco, and the England international sped through the Bournemouth defence to set up Joao Felix.

Lampard insisted that their situation will improve, as both have had difficulties this year, despite the 30-year-old being almost ready to leave the club in the winter transfer window.

When asked about why Chelsea fans jeered Ziyech and Sterling, (h/t Metro) Lampard said:

‘’Our fans were fantastic today, so I personally appreciate their support. They’re two players, Hakim and Raheem, that want to do well as football players, and they both have big talent. Considering the score was 1-1, fans might have felt Lampard was making the wrong substitutions, which led them to whistle at Sterling and Ziyech. Moreover, the English winger recently gave an interview where he described his spell at Chelsea as one of the lowest points of his career. Ziyech, meanwhile, continues to be linked with a summer move.

And both have struggled this season, so bringing them on wouldn’t have an influence on the game given that both Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk were performing admirably. This may be why fans did not like Ziyech and the former City forward substitution. The former Ajax player arrived with 76 minutes on the clock, while the 28-year-old did so in three minutes after the hour mark.

However, after the game, fans certainly applauded their performance as both players set up goals, which led to a massive, well-deserved victory and three points.
