Chelsea fans plan tribute to veteran star in home game vs Nottingham Forest

Chelsea fans to honour Thiago Silva ahead of Nottingham Forest kickoff

According to football.london, Chelsea fans will unveil a banner of Thiago Silva during the match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday lunchtime to honour his outstanding performances in Blue.

Despite the Blues’ terrible season, the 38-year-old centre-back has excelled and has largely held the backline together. Despite criticism of his signing because of his age, the former AC Milan defender has been an excellent addition to the Blues roster.

The Brazilian centre-back also extended his contract by a year, keeping him with the team through 2024. With Fluminense interested in his services it remains to be seen if he will see out his contract at the West London club.

Silva played a significant role in the Thomas Tuchel-led team that won the Champions League in 2020–21. Silva has participated in 24 Premier League games this season and has been one of our few bright spots.

Chelsea who are operating under interim manager Frank Lampard, have seen only one victory in his second stint at the club. The Blues’ quest for a permanent replacement is ongoing, with Mauricio Pochettino the strong favourite.

Chelsea are currently 11th in the standings and have no European football to look forward to next season. The best we can now do is end the campaign on a high.

In spite of all of the chaos, Thiago Silva has been our best defender this season and well deserves this recognition. Since joining the team, he has strengthened the backline and contributed to a positive environment in the locker room.

We are fortunate to have him as the club’s leader, and we hope that he continues to play a significant role in the organisation under the new manager in what may be his final season wearing the Blues’ jersey.

And when he leaves the club, we’ll undoubtedly have trouble finding a replacement of the calibre he is. For now, it is time to show him gratitude for the exemplary service at the Bridge.
