Todd Boehly was advised by TV personality regarding managerial music of chairs

Todd Boehly consulted TV star James Corden regarding Frank Lampard return

TV personality James Corden advised Todd Boehly of Chelsea to choose Frank Lampard as the team’s temporary manager until the end of the current campaign. The host of a US television program and the investor Boehly are friends.

According to The Sun, (h/t Express), the Chelsea owner turned to JCorden regarding the appointment of an interim manager to see out the season. It was here that the idea to bring back Lampard came from.

It seemed highly unlikely that Chelsea would choose Lampard as their new manager after Graham Potter was fired. The club had identified Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique as possible replacements. Lampard, for his part, had already enjoyed a poor run of form in the Blues hotseat.

In the course of one season, Chelsea fired Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and most recently appointed Frank Lampard, despite his disastrous tenure as Everton’s manager.

Unfortunately, the start of Lampard’s second tenure resulted in a defeat, as they lost to Wolves and currently rank 11th in the Premier League standings.

It is also acknowledged that the Blues needed more time to choose their ultimate manager, hence why Lampard was chosen to serve as interim manager until the completion of the current campaign.

As they search for a top-tier manager for the upcoming season, Chelsea have approached a number of managers, including Jose Mourinho. The Blues will now travel to Bernabeu to face Real Madrid in the Champions League last eight.

The hiring of Lampard was reasonable given that our campaign is already done and all we can hope for is a miracle against Real Madrid.

Asking a TV personality for advice on who should be your team’s next manager comes off as silly. It will give the impression that you are ignorant of football and will discount the knowledge of other club staff members. Surely, there were better options than Lampard out there.

So, hopefully, the same decision won’t be made again as we need to recruit a manager next season who is committed to turning around the club’s destiny.
