Mauricio Pochettino has asked Todd Boehly to give importance to academy players after assessing Chelsea squad

Todd Boehly and Mauricio Pochettino are in advanced talks, and the manager has requested that the club owner prioritise youth players after evaluating the team.

Additionally, according to the Times, (Subscription required) (h/t Metro) the former Paris Saint-Germain player has already made a decision after analysing the team.

Following a round of negotiations in which the 51-year-old wowed Chelsea’s board, the Blues are now almost set to name the former Espanyol manager as the successor to Graham Potter.

It is unknown if the Argentine would take over right now or wait until the summer, despite suggestions that the board might bring him in as soon as possible to replace temporary manager Frank Lampard.

The former coach of Tottenham Hotspur has told Chelsea’s management that focusing on developing indigenous talent inside the team may play a crucial part in creating an atmosphere of success in West London.

And it’s been said that if Chelsea chooses Pochettino, he’ll be accompanied by four close companions: his son Sebastiano, a sports scientist; first-team coach Miguel D’Agostino; goalie coach Toni Jimenez; and assistant and head of conditioning Jesus Perez.

Chelsea are presently in 11th place in the Premier League and have seven games left until the season is over. Pochettino is aware that our training regimen has produced a number of elite players who have gone on to make their mark in Chelsea’s annals.

Reece James and Mason Mount are recent academy graduates who rose to prominence and have become important figures in the senior squad. And the other youngster will also get massive help from the Argentine manager, considering he has assisted many youngsters when he coached Tottenham and PSG.

We do have youngsters such as Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile and Enzo Fernandez waiting to explode. But there are the likes of Harvey Vale, Omari Hutchinson, Zak Sturge, Charlie Webster and Lewis Hall, among many others, waiting to make the step up to the senior squad.
