“It will come”- Bruno Saltor optimistic following goalless draw between Chelsea and Liverpool

Bruno Saltor with an honest reaction after Chelsea played out a goalless draw vs Liverpool

Speaking to the media after the game, interim Chelsea boss Bruno Saltor gave an honest review of the goalless draw played out between the Blues and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

In a game that lacked quality from both sides, Chelsea played the better football and should be disappointed to not come away with all three points. Kai Havertz had a goal ruled out by VAR when he finished off his chance with a hand.

Reece James had the ball in the net in the first half, only for it to be ruled out because Enzo Fernandez was offside in the first phase of the corner ball. Mateo Kovacic had two great chances in each half but the Croatian was wasteful, to say the least.

All in all, despite the missed chances, Chelsea looked like the better team on the field, although the bar was low because of Liverpool’s lack of quality throughout the night. Here’s what Bruno said after the game (h/t BBC):

“We created chances. We scored, offside. It will come to the boys because they deserve it.

“We left Liverpool without anything [up front]. They put their bodies on the line, I’m really happy with back three. We had players on Ramadan, some back from injury.

“N’Golo Kante is incredible. His performances are good. He’s a leader with his performances.

“What now? “I’m going back home, rest, focus on the next game. We will just focus on every day. The boys are giving their best. It’s been a really hard season. They’re human beings, we have to help them.”

As Bruno pointed out, Kante was incredible in his first start since August. The Frenchman has had his season ruined by injuries, but he started today as the captain and delivered an excellent performance before running out of energy and subsequently getting substituted around the 70-minute mark.

It has been a tough few days for everyone at the club. The departure of Graham Potter wouldn’t have been easy for the interim boss as well.
