Barcelona willing to sign Chelsea outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but on one condition

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave Chelsea for Barcelona

Barcelona are eager to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are prepared to do so if Chelsea do not demand payment for the striker.

According to Mundo Deportivo, (h/t Metro), despite his disappointing season at Stamford Bridge, Barcelona are still interested in bringing the former Arsenal star back, but only for free.

Aubameyang had a good time during his brief tenure at Camp Nou and scored 11 goals in 17 La Liga games, which tempted the Blues to sign the striker and reunite him with Thomas Tuchel, who was later sacked.

The 33-year-old cost Chelsea £10 million, but he was dropped by Graham Potter from the Champions League roster after failing to help the team’s goal-scoring issues.

So far, in just 13 Premier League appearances, the Gabonese attacker has only scored once. The 33-year-old was brought in to replace Lukaku but flopped in front of goal, scoring only three goals in all competitions.

The former AC Milan striker was also seen celebrating with a Barcelona player after their 2-1 La Liga victory against Real Madrid. And Aubameyang wants to go back to the Catalan giants.

Given the player’s enormous wage, Chelsea are also willing to sell him but would not like the idea of letting him go for free. That makes sense. Why should we do a favour for Barcelona when they have already poached two of our players, Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen, on free transfers last summer?

Aubameyang has not helped us in scoring goals – it is as simple as that. He arrived on deadline day and the move screamed of a panic buy for a team who had been unable to figure out who they wanted up front for the season.

If Barcelona are unwilling to pay money for his move to a Spanish team, we should wait and explore alternatives. Of course, it is a smart idea to get his wages off the books because it doesn’t seem like he has a future here. But it would be wiser to sell him to a team who have been financially smart to be able to at least pay transfer fees this summer.

More Chelsea News:

There is a big summer that awaits Chelsea. Aubameyang, Romelu Lukaku, Armando Broja and Kai Havertz are four names that could lead our line next season. Ideally, none of them are made to do that, at least for now, and we sign a proven goal-scorer. Victor Osimhen, anyone?
