Are Player Sales More Important Than Purchases for Chelsea This Summer?

Chelsea has been one of the most active teams in recent transfer windows, spending large sums of money on players to strengthen their squad. However, with most teams having more players than they know what to do with, the focus for many teams this summer may be on player sales rather than purchases. For Chelsea, this could be particularly important.

In this article, we will take a look at whether or not player sales are going to be more important than purchases for Chelsea for this summer, as well as touching upon the strange position that Chelsea is in right now. Let’s get straight into it.

Chelsea Just Has Too Many Players Right Now

In recent seasons, Chelsea has been successful in the transfer market, signing high-profile players such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech.

However, their squad is now beginning to look bloated, with several players currently out on loan or struggling for playing time. This means that if Chelsea wants to continue to bring in new players, they may need to sell some of their existing players first.

Chelsea’s current team roster is currently jam-packed full of incredible players, and while this may be a good thing for most teams, squads like Chelsea that are always looking to get new players are put in a difficult position. We can almost guarantee that we are going to see Chelsea drop a few players this summer, and we may even see them swap out some exemplary players.

Who Could We See Go?

We cannot say for sure who Chelsea is going to drop this summer, but there are a few candidates that stick out the most. One player who has been linked with a potential exit from Chelsea is Conor Gallagher. Despite being with the team since a youth in training, many fans believe he doesn’t have what it takes to remain in the Chelsea squad.

With Chelsea being so eager to sell off players, it is highly likely that they will be willing to let Gallagher go for a player with more experience and game knowledge.

Another player who could potentially be sold by Chelsea is Christian Pulisic. While Christian Pulisic is a fantastic player that has proven himself on the pitch, his numerous injuries stop him from realising his true potential.

On top of this, Pulisic appears to be particularly prone to injury, as he seems to get a new problem right after he has recovered from a previous injury.

It’s also worth noting that Christian Pulisic does not have the on most sites whenever he features in a game, indicating that support for him outside of the club is very low.

There are a ton of other players who could potentially get dropped. But Christian Pulisic and Conor Gallagher are certainly the most likely.

New Acquisitions Are Still Likely Going To Be Made

While player sales could be important this summer, as is the norm for Chelsea, it is likely that they will still likely look to bring in new players as well. One position they could target is left-back, with Ben Chilwell currently being the only natural option in the squad.

Another potential area for reinforcement could be in central midfield, where a more defensive-minded player could be brought in to provide cover for N’Golo Kante.

Chelsea is notorious for purchasing more players than almost any other Premier League squad, and this season is likely going to be no different. The only question is whether or not the players they pick up will be an upgrade over the players they are willing to let go.

Overall, while Chelsea has been successful in recent transfer windows, they may need to focus on player sales this summer in order to continue strengthening their squad.

Selling players like Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic could generate funds for new signings, while also allowing younger players to step up and prove themselves. However, even with player sales, Chelsea will still likely look to bring in new players in key positions to ensure they remain competitive both domestically and in Europe.

It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out for Chelsea. The team is in somewhat of a peculiar position right now with them having more talented players than they know what to do with. We will just have to wait and see to find out how Chelsea will navigate these turbulent waters.
