As quoted by Fabrizio Romano via his tweet, Borussia Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl has insisted that they will try and keep Jude Bellingham for one more season at the least.
Football.London reports the obvious thing that along with Chelsea, many top European clubs – including Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City are interested in the former Birmingham City star.
We cannot blame Dortmund to do their bit to keep hold of the 19-year-old for as long as possible. At such a young age, his quality has transcended all over the world.
There have been fluctuating reports of him moving to either Liverpool or Madrid. But, a few weeks ago, it was reported that Chelsea will do their best to stay in the race despite breaking the British transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez in January.
We all know that Bellingham is one of the best, if not the best young midfielder in Europe. He has the potential to become whatever he wants in the coming years.
The 19-year-old will add energy, quality on the ball box-to-box running, goals and assists, relentless defensive work and more to any team he joins.
If Chelsea manage to prise him away, then the prospect of a Bellingham-Fernandez midfield partnership can dominate any team in that department. There’s N’Golo Kante to add to the equation as well.
This transfer saga is expected to run deep into the summer window. Not just the money, but the attraction of the project may matter more to the England international.
We have seen in the January window how well the Chelsea owners pitch their project to players to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk from the nose of Arsenal. Can they do the same and get Bellingham? We hope so.
